FADE IN:
INT. MOVIE THEATER - YOUR SEAT - SCREEN
(slowly revealed words)
(no sound)
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE FAMOUS
Words fade out.
WHAT DOES FAME, MEAN
Words fade out with MEAN lingering a bit.
PENCIL WRITING ON PAPER. Appearing.
(hand written)
TOBE, FOREVER YOUNG
The letters shimmer like tiny diamonds. A long drawn INHALE is followed by a similar EXHALE. The letters are BLOWN away as if they are simply dust.
FADE TO BLACK:
An ACOUSTIC GUITAR begins to play.
FADE IN:
INT. CAFE - TABLE - NIGHT
Gradually appearing is a close up of a SHADED PATTERNED FABRIC moving slightly.
WAITRESS (O.S.)
One double tall triple shot single caramel lattice nonfat frapallini with double dip whip cream and single scoop chocolate sprinkles...
JACOB (O.S.)
Cool, thanks!
WAITRESS (O.S.)
And a coffee
TUBBS (O.S.)
Thank you.
WAITRESS (O.S.)
Thanks guys.
Shaded fabric moves revealing TOBE playing a classical guitar with LIFE in graffiti art on the sound box. Tobe looks like he’s in his mid to late twenties. He has dark hair and a light olive complexion with a slender build and a hair stubbled jaw. JACOB and TUBBS are sitting about five tables away with two cups, one small and one very large. Jacob has shoulder length dark brown hair that plays with a slight off beat wave. His is tanned and is slender and, like Tubbs, is clean shaven and looks to be in his late twenties.
Tobe, Forever Young - 2.
Unlike Jacob and Tobe, Tubbs has a stocky build. His hair is a dark auburn and his complexion is lighter than Tobe’s.
JACOB
I’ve been craving this all day.
TUBBS
(dry)
Took about that long just to name it.
JACOB
Did you tell him yet?
Jacob takes a long luxurious sip.
TUBBS
(apprehensive)
No. I plan to after he's done.
JACOB
Ooh this is the one with that nice hammer-on bit. Don’t you think he’ll be psyched?
TUBBS
I’m not really sure.
JACOB
Well I don’t want to go without him. He’s too good a talent. He can take us to the top.
CUT TO:
Leaving his guitar Tobe steps off of the small stage.
TUBBS (O.S.)
Yeah. That’s what worries me.
Near the stage is a dark haired GIRL in a BLUE DRESS sitting alone at a table with two cups.
GIRL
That’s a very pretty song.
TOBE
(startled)
Thank, thank you.
Pausing a moment to take in the girl’s smile, he then makes his way past a JUKEBOX and a GUY in an ORANGE SHIRT, who is putting in a coin. Tobe finishes the trek through the sparsely filled tables, grabbing a chair by Jacob and flipping it around to saddle down.
Tobe, Forever Young - 3.
JACOB
What happened?
Tobe gives him an inquisitive look.
JACOB (CONT’D)
No hammer-ons.
TOBE
Oh that.
TUBBS
Hey.
TOBE
Hey. Another time.
JOHN LENNON starts to sing INSTANT KARMA.
JACOB
Another time. Like we have forever.
Tobe gives him weary look.
JACOB (CONT’D)
By the way, Tubbs here has something to say about that.
Tubbs grimaces slightly resting his stare on the table.
TOBE
Sounds ominous. What could it be? Oh let me guess, you wanted the hammer-ons too.
JACOB
When in doubt, get a bigger hammer. We all know size
(in a higher pitch)
For the sighs,
(semi normal pitch)
Matters.
Tubbs and Tobe share a look of exasperation at Jacob. The waitress walks over and parks herself between Tubbs and Jacob while placing a LARGE CUP on the table in front of Tobe.
WAITRESS
(smiling)
One coffee with lots of cream and plenty of sugar.
